Broken Silence

On loneliness and separation from the wider world…

Automat – Edward Hopper (Painted in 1927)

The only time we waste is the time we spend thinking we are alone.

Mitch Albom, American Author who famously penned ‘Tuesdays With Morrie’

. . .

Seated soft in blinding dark,

A room by shadow ruled.

Where overwhelming Silence harked,

The drowning loners pooled.

.

“I have friends!” They told themselves,

Defying silent Song.

Silence into a forte delves

To prove the loners wrong.

.

In fulminating protest

The loners summoned strength.

They weren’t to brood in sorrow’s nest,

Not by any length!

.

Revolutionary smiles

Positioned on their face,

They now began to strategize,

That Silence to displace.

.

Grins and giggles only grew.

The loners’ plans were set.

The brained events that would ensue,

Would never be forget.

.

For in that great blinding dark

Where loners were to meet,

Friendship’s flame came into spark

As Silence faced defeat.
