On Life’s bittersweet nature…

Life is like a box of chocolates… you never know what you’re gonna get.
Tom Hanks, From the movie ‘Forest Gump’
. . .
When life’s bowl is impaired
By acrid aftertaste,
Broth and rice both ensnared,
Embittered and defaced,
Swiftly from memory,
A most trustworthy fridge,
Braving frigidity,
I build a foodie’s bridge.
.
I then commence transport,
And porter thoughts most sweet,
Of chocolate, comfort,
Cherries and cake to eat.
And when too sugary
My diet has become,
Life’s bitter cookery
Resumes its place on tongue.
